VooDEW 6.0 (United States) was a Mountain Dew flavor released in the United States for Halloween 2024 as the sixth annual release in the VooDEW series.
Description[]
VooDEW 6.0 (United States) was a Mystery Flavor of Mountain Dew. It was white in color, with a flavor profile comparable to its VooDEW Family of Flavors alongside other Halloween and mystery flavors.
It was initially confirmed to be a collaboration with a "top Halloween Candy brand," but the brand deal fell through due to some controversy[1] (see trivia section for more details).
Speculation[]
Before its mystery flavor was officially revealed, people who've tried it have drawn comparisons to some strawberry candy, such as gummy candy, or other various types of candy.
Clues[]
During September and October 2024, the official Mountain Dew Twitter account hinted at the flavor with some clues.
First Clue[]
The first clue was a photograph[2] of some campers from CAMP MTN DEW VOO-DEW looking at another campers' bracelets. There are three bracelets, one being black and white stating: "YOU'RE NEXT," the second being a light yellow, and the third being a vibrant pink stating: "P F C." The second and third bracelets have Star beads.
Using information from one of the past VooDEW flavors, VooDEW 3.0 (United States), which has a similar taste, we can decipher that this is Pink Fruit Chews.
Answer[]
On October 31st, 2024, the official Mountain Dew Twitter account unveiled[3] VooDEW's 2024 Mystery Flavor to be Pink Fruit Candy.
History[]
On September 23rd, 2023[4], it was leaked by Team Supernova[5] that VooDEW 6.0, alongside its Zero Sugar variant, would be releasing in Fall 2024 with a collaboration of a top candy brand.
It was officially released in stores in September 2024, throughout the United States for a limited time in 12-packs and 20-ounce bottles until November 2024, where after that, Trolli (Cherry-Lemon) Zero Sugar, the first non-mystery VooDEW adjacent flavor would be succeeding it in 2025.
Freeze release[]
(2024) Circle K[]
In August 2024[6], Circle K locations began getting VooDEW 6.0 as a Froster Freeze and received a 24-ounce color-changing cup & glow in the dark dome lid that includes a 2-in-1 straw & shoe charm to go with your Crocs.
As a bonus, once you buy the cup, it'll cost you $7.99. You get a first fill free, and on top of that, the cup will change colors depending on the temperature. If it's at room temperature, it'll remain white, but when it gets cold, it'll turn purple.
This Froster Freeze release is the second release to get a color-changing cup. The first is Purple Thunder's 1st-anniversary Froster Freeze release in Summer 2023, and this Halloween Freeze release had Strawberry Juice Concentrate[7].
Trivia[]
- This flavor was the eighth Halloween-themed flavor to release, the first being Pitch Black, the second being Pitch Black II, the third being 1.0 (U.S.), the fourth being 2.0 (U.S.), the fifth being 3.0 (U.S.), the sixth being 4.0 (U.S.), the seventh being 5.0 (U.S.), and the ninth being Trolli (Cherry-Lemon) Zero Sugar.
- For Canada, the first being Pitch Black, the second being 1.0 (Canada) and the third being 2.0 (Canada).
- For Australia, the first and only being 1.0 (Australia).
- There's a Twitter account named "VooDewGrim,"[8] endorsed by the official Mountain Dew[9] Twitter account. VooDEWgrim has been inactive since 2022[10] and has yet to return.
- The VooDEW 6.0 (United States) flavor was initially announced to be a collaboration with a "Top Halloween candy brand" meaning that the flavor reveal would've been be a brand name and not a generic name such as "Sour Candy Flavor," but this fell through.
- On September 9th, 2024[11], the official Mountain Dew Twitter account announced that VooDEW 6.0 (United States) is "in stores now." After it was announced, on the same day, one user replied[12] with a GIF of pink candy, stating: "You're a Pink Starburst." They later hid that reply[13], making it attract attention from the Mountain Dew fan community.
- After that incident, VooDEW 6.0 (United States) didn't had as much heavy promotion as the previous VooDEW flavors, such as VooDEW 5.0 for example, and this reply alone could have made the deal fall through.
- This collaboration isn't the first partnership with a candy brand and a soda brand from PepsiCo. The first example of this Halloween collaboration was October 2020's Crush Sour Patch Kids Berry soda, the second example of this was VooDEW 5.0 (United States), and the third would've been VooDEW 6.0 (United States).
- A r/mildlyinteresting Reddit post went trending regarding VooDEW 6.0 (United States)'s prototype labels on March 23rd, 2024[14]. The user from the post retrieved the label wrap by mistake, and they later deleted the post along with the photograph.
