VooDEW 4.0 (United States) was a Mountain Dew flavor released in the United States for Halloween 2022 as the fourth annual release in the VooDEW series.
Description[]
VooDEW 4.0 (United States) was a Mystery Flavor of Mountain Dew. It was white in color, with a flavor profile comparable to its VooDEW Family of Flavors alongside other Halloween and mystery flavors.
Speculation[]
Before its mystery flavor was officially revealed, people who've tried it have drawn comparisons to some slightly sour candy or other various types of candy.
Clues[]
During October 2022, VooDewGrim[1], endorsed by the official Mountain Dew hinted at the flavor with some clues.
Packaging[]
When it was first released, some fans discovered that when you zoom into a pumpkin in the cemetery, a Sour Patch Kid can be seen burning as the "candle of the pumpkin."[2]
First Clue[]
One clue is from the VooDewGrim Twitter account posted a photograph of themself on a table holding a sign, signifying they are a big fan of "Fran Casy Dolvuro". Once you unscramble the text, it is revealed to be "Sour Candy Flavor."[3]
Answer[]
On October 31st, 2022, VooDewGrim[4], endorsed by the official Mountain Dew[5] Twitter account, unveiled[6] VooDEW's 4.0 Mystery Flavor to be Sour Candy Flavor.
History[]
On November 2nd, 2021, in a deleted r/MountainDew Reddit post[7], a user posted images of two Dew flavors featuring VooDEW 4.0 alongside its Zero Sugar variant with a canceled Mountain Dew Energy (Dragonfruit Charge), the latter at the time known as "Rise Energy (Dragonfruit Lime)."
In Early-to-Mid 2022, some test bottles were seen on some websites. These bottles had a more orange design compared to the previous pink design. In addition, VooDEW 4.0's can design was leaked on the Dew Drinker Discord, then later on a r/MountainDew Reddit post.[8]
It was officially released in stores on September 5th, 2022[9], throughout the United States for a limited time in 12-packs, 7.5-ounce mini cans 8-packs (Amazon exclusive), and 20-ounce bottles until October 31st, (Halloween) 2022, where after that, VooDEW 5.0 (United States) would be succeeding it in 2023.
