VooDEW 3.0 was a Mountain Dew flavor released for the Halloween season 2021 as the third annual release flavor of the VooDEW series in the United States. In Fall 2022, this flavor, alongside 1.0 and 2.0, returned as the Ghosts of VooDEW Past in the online DEW Store for a limited time while supplies last.
Description[]
VooDEW 3.0 was a Mystery Flavor of Mountain Dew and had a white look with a similar theme to Mountain Dew's other Halloween flavors.
Speculation[]
Since this VooDEW flavor was a Mystery Flavor, many people who have tried it have drawn comparisons to Starburst, Laffy Taffy, SweeTARTS, and numerous other fruit candies.
Clues[]
One of these clues[1] is from the VooDewGrim Twitter account reading a book. They said that the book they're reading is a fascinating read by Ruth F. Wiesc. One deleted comment on the post stated "If you use an anagram solver for "Ruth F. Wiesc," 2 of the words that would make sense are "Citrus" and "Fruits," but the book cover already gave that away."
Answer[]
On October 31st, 2021, VooDewGrim[2], endorsed by the official Mountain Dew[3] Twitter account, unveiled[4] VooDEW's 3.0 Mystery Flavor to be Fruit Candy Chews.
History[]
2021 Limited Time retail release[]
On April 16th, 2021, in a r/MountainDew in a deleted Reddit post[5], a user named u/AdmiralOink4[6] posted an image of a bottle of VooDEW 3.0. They described it as a "Generic sweet candy flavor,"[7] unable to figure it out.
In August 2021, some test bottles sent out to a few select people, with having differing opinions on the flavor. In addition, there was also a box sent out exclusively to select Dew Nation HQ members. This pre-release box contained promotional art and an early sample bottle.
It was officially released in stores in late August 2021, throughout the United States for a limited time in 12-packs and 20-ounce bottles until October 31st, 2021, the end of Halloween 2021, where after that, VooDEW 4.0 would succeed it in 2022.
2022 DEW Store release[]
On June 3rd, 2022, an anonymous PepsiCo employee stated that three VooDEW flavors would be releasing as a variety 16-ounce can six-pack, two cans of 1.0, three cans of 2.0, and one can of 3.0 as the Ghosts of VooDEW Past. It was available in the online DEW Store[8], Walmart[9], and Amazon[10] for a limited time while supplies last in fall 2022.
