VooDEW 1.0 (United States) was a Mountain Dew flavor released in the United States for Halloween 2019 as the first annual release in the VooDEW series. In Fall 2022, VooDEW 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 were reintroduced as the Ghosts of VooDEW Past, available for a limited time in the online DEW Store.

Description[]

VooDEW 1.0 (United States) was a Mystery Flavor of Mountain Dew. It was white in color, with a flavor profile comparable to its VooDEW Family of Flavors alongside other Halloween and mystery flavors.

Speculation[]

Before its mystery flavor was officially revealed, people who've tried it have drawn comparisons to a reminiscent of an orange creamsicle, a fruity tang, Starburst, Skittles, rainbow sherbet, or other fruit candies.

Clues[]

On September 25th, 2019, the official Mountain Dew Twitter account hinted at the flavor with four clues.

First Clue[]

The first clue[1] was a crow standing on a rock with a filter glitching out to reveal the colors of a candy corn on the crow.

Second Clue[]

The second clue[2] was VooDEWgrim, a black shadow teleporting in the corn field, revealing his yellow "VooDEW" face before going back to the corn field below the full moon.

Third Clue[]

The third clue[3] was a house on an eerie, dark, foggy night in the forest, where a window had an orange glow and was unusually shaped like a candy corn piece.

Fourth and Last Clue[]

The fourth and last clue[4] was a single, malfunctioning lamp cast a strobe-like gloom over the confluence of "Dandy" and "Thorne."

Answer[]

On October 30th, 2019, the official Mountain Dew Twitter account unveiled[5] VooDEW's 2019 Mystery Flavor to be Candy Corn.

History[]

2019 Limited Time retail release[]

On October 3rd, 2018, PepsiCo filed[6] a trademark name for VooDEW 1.0 titled "MTN DEW VOO-DEW."

On March 26th, 2019[7], an eBay listing of a pre-release 20-ounce prototype bottle surfaced online. After the eBay listing, many photographs of other prototype bottles started to surface.

From April 8th to 10th, 2019, two PepsiCo employees revealed the release date of VooDEW 1.0. The first employee revealed it to be August 26th[8], while the other revealed it to be August 14th,[9] depending on the region's diversity.

It was officially released in stores on August 14th and 26th, 2019, depending on the region, throughout the United States for a limited time in 12-packs and 20-ounce bottles until October 31st, (Halloween) 2019, where after that, VooDEW 2.0 (United States) would be succeeding it in 2020.

2022 DEW Store release[]

On June 3rd, 2022, an anonymous PepsiCo employee[10] stated that three VooDEW flavors would be released as a variety 16-ounce can six-pack, two cans of 1.0, three cans of 2.0, and one can of 3.0 as the Ghosts of VooDEW Past. It was available in the online DEW Store[11], Walmart[12], and Amazon[13] for a limited time while supplies last in fall 2022.
