Sugar-Free Mountain Dew was a sugar-free Mountain Dew variant that was released alongside Caffeine-Free Mountain Dew in 1976 in response to the growing trend in America of weight-watching. In 1984, Sugar-Free Mountain Dew was then renamed into Diet Mountain Dew.
Description
Just like its successor, Mountain Dew Zero Sugar, Sugar-Free Mountain Dew was a modified version of the original formula, containing no sugar, but retaining the same citrus taste and yellow-green color as the original Mountain Dew drink, similar to Diet Mountain Dew.
History
Sugar-Free Mountain Dew was first introduced alongside Caffeine-Free Mountain Dew in 1976 in response to the growing trend in America of weight-watching. Diet Mountain Dew was used to be branded as Sugar-Free Mountain Dew until 1984 when it was renamed to Diet Mountain Dew, its current name.
