Not to be confused with Dew Fuel or Citrus Blast, the drinks both formerly known as "Mountain Dew Energy."

Mountain Dew Energy (formerly known as Mountain Dew Rise) was a line of Energy drinks released in January 2021 and was discontinued in January 2024.

Description[]

The lineup contains 180 Milligrams of Caffeine, which equals approximately 2 Cups of Coffee, 5% Juice, Zero (0 G) added Sugar, Zinc, and Vitamins A&C Antioxidants. The lineup was sweetened with aspartame, sucralose, acesulfame-potassium, and white grape juice and has doubled the amount of caffeine compared to the current Kickstart line and the discontinued Amp Game Fuel line.

List of Flavors[]

These are Flavor Variants that PepsiCo had put out over the past years of Mountain Dew Energy's lifespan. All flavors of Mountain Dew Energy are discontinued and/or scrapped.

History[]

On August 4th, 2020, on the Dew Drinker Discord, information was leaked by an anonymous individual showing upcoming plans for 2021 with many flavors and new brands alike. All of these leaks are as follows: Major Melon, alongside its Zero Sugar variant, Rise Energy, Baja Blast alongside two flavors, Baja Flash and Baja Punch, DEW-S-A, Riddler's Brew, Gingerbread Snap'd, and a re-release of Pepsi Blue.

The Mountain Dew Energy Original Lineup was officially released to stores in the United States in March 2021 as a permanent lineup and was available in 16-ounce cans with the Conquer the Morning promotion endorsed by Lebron James.

2021 Name lawsuit[]

In June 2021, the RISE Brewing Company (a coffee company) that produces canned coffee and tea beverages under the label "Rise" sued PepsiCo for trademark infringement. A few months later, in November, PepsiCo dropped the Rise branding and as a result, the product line was renamed to Mountain Dew Energy in November of that year.

Berry Blitz Discontinuation and Cherry Lime Lift Release[]

On October 13th, 2021, Cherry Lime Lift was officially announced at the 2021 NACS Show that Cherry Lime Lift would be releasing on January 10th, 2022 and was released in January of that year. Originally, Cherry Lime Lift was planned to be released with a celebrity endorsement from basketball player LeBron James, who had earlier sponsored the line's first six flavors when the line was first released. Cherry Lime Lift's original design had a polygonal artwork of his head to be in place of the Energy Lion mascot. However, it was abandoned for unknown reasons, and the drink was released without it.

In December 2021, Berry Blitz was confirmed discontinued.

Dragonfruit Charge Planned Release[]

In Late 2021, Dragonfruit Charge was planned to be released in Summer 2022. However, it was presumably canceled to make room for The Lost Treasures of Baja Island promotion.

Baja Blast Summer 2022 and 2023 Release[]

In March 2022, a Mountain Dew Energy variant called Baja Blast ENERGY was leaked and released for a limited time in Summer 2022 as part of the The Lost Treasures of Baja Island promotion. It returned in the Summer of 2023 as part of the Summer of Baja Blast promotion. After that, Baja Blast ENERGY with a Baja Blast Charged Berry variant was then test-marketed in a select few Taco Bell locations in September 2023.

It was planned to be released as a permanent Energy variant, but the Energy line was planned to be discontinued the same year, and was fully discontinued in January 2024.

It was the first Mountain Dew Energy to be based on an existing Mountain Dew flavor.

Code Red Fall 2022 Release[]

In Fall 2022, Code Red ENERGY was released for a limited time from October to September. After its 2022 run, it was planned to be released again in Fall 2023 but was canceled.

2023 Discontinuation[]

On December 15th, 2022, it was confirmed by a trusted source on the r/MountainDew Reddit that its lineup would be shrinking to three core flavors, and the other three core flavors would get discontinued. As a result of this, Tropical Sunrise, Peach Mango Dawn, and Orange Breeze would be discontinued. Orange Breeze continued to be produced regionally while Peach Mango Dawn and Tropical Sunrise disappeared.

While that was happening, in early 2023, Strawberry Melon Spark's name changed to Strawberry Melon Sharp, likely to avoid confusion with Spark.

Pitch Black Early 2023 Release[]

In Early 2023, Pitch Black ENERGY was released for a limited time from January to February.

Pitch Black Early 2023 Release[]

In Summer 2023, Major Melon ENERGY was released for a limited time from March to June.

Liberty Brew ENERGY/Baja Laguna Lemonade ENERGY Planned Release[]

In September 2023, Liberty Brew ENERGY and Baja Laguna Lemonade ENERGY were first leaked as canceled scrapped flavors planned to be released in 2024 for a limited time.

2024 Discontinuation[]

In September 2023, it was leaked as the entirety of the Mountain Dew Energy line would be discontinued in January 2024 and was acknowledged by the official Rockstar Energy Drink website.
