Mountain Dew Energy (Strawberry Melon Sharp)

Strawberry Melon Sharp (formerly known as Strawberry Melon Spark) was a Mountain Dew Energy flavor released in March 2021 as a part of the initial lineup of the original six flavors. The Energy line was discontinued in January 2024, making this flavor with the rest of the flavors discontinued.

Description[]

As its name implies, Strawberry Melon Sharp was a Strawberry Melon flavor of Mountain Dew. It had a similar color and flavor to Supernova, which also contains the same Strawberry Melon flavor.

It was a low-sugar energy drink having 180 Milligrams of Caffeine which equals approximately 2 Cups of Coffee, 5% Juice, Zero (0 G) added Sugar, Zinc, and Vitamins A&C Antioxidants.

History[]

On August 4th, 2020, on the Dew Drinker Discord, information was leaked by an anonymous individual showing upcoming plans for 2021 with many flavors and new brands alike. All of these leaks are as follows: Major Melon, alongside its Zero Sugar variant, Rise Energy, Baja Blast alongside two flavors, Baja Flash and Baja Punch, DEW-S-A, Riddler's Brew, Gingerbread Snap'd, and a re-release of Pepsi Blue.

The Mountain Dew Energy line was officially released to stores in the United States in March 2021 as a permanent lineup and is available in 16-ounce cans with the Conquer the Morning promotion. The flavors here are as follows: Pomegranate Blue Burst, Strawberry Melon Spark, Berry Blitz, Tropical Sunrise, Peach Mango Dawn, and Orange Breeze.

The flavor's name was changed from Strawberry Melon Spark to Strawberry Melon Sharp in late 2022.

Name lawsuit[]

In June 2021, the RISE Brewing Company (a coffee company) that produces canned coffee and tea beverages under the label "Rise" sued PepsiCo for trademark infringement. A few months later, in November, PepsiCo dropped the Rise branding and as a result, the product line was renamed to Mountain Dew Energy in November of that year.

Strawberry Melon Sharp[]

For reasons unknown, in early 2023, Strawberry Melon Spark's name changed to Strawberry Melon Sharp, likely to avoid confusion with Spark.

January 2024 discontinuation[]

On September 23rd, 2023, it was leaked by Team Supernova that VooDEW 6.0, alongside its Zero Sugar variant, would be releasing in Fall 2024 with a collaboration of a top candy brand. Additionally, Kroger-exclusive Thrashed Apple would be nationally discontinued alongside Major Melon, Spark at the end of 2023, alongside the entirety of the Mountain Dew Energy line in January of 2024 with the then-discovered Mountain Dew Energy (Liberty Brew) and Mountain Dew Energy (Baja Laguna Lemonade) and was acknowledged by the official Rockstar Energy Drink website.

Trivia[]
