Dragonfruit Charge was a Mountain Dew Energy flavor originally planned to be released in stores in Summer 2022 for a limited time.
Description[]
Dragonfruit Charge would have been a Dragonfruit Lime flavor of Mountain Dew, and its color is unknown.
It would have been a low-sugar energy drink having 180 Milligrams of Caffeine which equals approximately 2 Cups of Coffee, 5% Juice, Zero (0 G) added Sugar, Zinc, and Vitamins A&C Antioxidants.
History[]
On November 2nd, 2021, in a now-deleted r/MountainDew Reddit post, a user posted images of two Dew flavors featuring VooDEW 4.0 alongside its Zero Sugar variant with a canceled Mountain Dew Energy (Dragonfruit Charge), the latter at the time known as "Rise Energy (Dragonfruit Lime)."
After its initial leak, there were little to no updates on the flavor other than the name changed from Dragonfruit Lime to Dragonfruit Charge, some discovered renders, and a limited-time Summer 2022 release.
On February 9th, 2022, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, a deleted user posted an photograph of a PepsiCo 2022 release schedule from October 2021, showing multiple seasonal releases of PepsiCo and PepsiCo-affiliated products. In the middle of the photograph was a 16-ounce can render of Mountain Dew Energy (Dragonfruit Charge), planned to release in the Summer of 2022. However, it was presumably canceled to make room for The Lost Treasures of Baja Island promotion.
Trivia[]
- Dragonfruit Charge is the first Mountain Dew Energy flavor to be canceled. The second is Liberty Brew and the third is Baja Laguna Lemonade in Summer 2024.
