Major Melon is a Mountain Dew flavor that officially released in stores on January 4th, 2021 as a permanent flavor. Its tagline is "DEW Charged with Watermelon Flavor with Other Natural Flavors."

Description

Major Melon is magenta in color. The drink is watermelon flavored, similar to the unreleased Flavor 648, and also includes a Zero Sugar variant.

Major Melon is currently available in 20 oz bottles, 12 pack cans, 16 oz/16.9 oz multipack bottles, and is also available in fountain form exclusively at Circle K locations. The Zero Sugar version is currently available in 20 oz bottles and 12 pack cans.

History

On August 4th, 2020, Major Melon, alongside its Zero Sugar variant, was first leaked by an anonymous individual on the Dew Drinker Discord, alongside Baja Punch, Baja Flash, Snap'd, Riddler's Brew, Mountain Dew Rise, DEW-S-A, and the re-release of Pepsi Blue.

On October 8th, 2020, a leaked internal reel video surfaced, showing upcoming plans for the Mountain Dew brand for 2021. This video reaffirmed much of the previously-leaked information for 2021, with new flavors including both seasonal flavors, such as Baja Flash, Baja Punch, Riddler's Brew, and Snap'd, as well as a new permanent flavor, Major Melon.

Soda Fountain Release

Circle K

In January 2021, it was reported that Major Melon had arrived at select Circle K convenience store locations as a fountain drink.

Trivia

  • On October 8th, 2020, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, a user named "xAn0nymouSx" posted a photograph of a test bottle of Major Melon. The picture itself reveals this flavor's number to be 480, making this flavor's formula different from an unreleased watermelon flavor from 2009, Flavor 648.
