Happy Dew Year was a canceled Mountain Dew flavor, which was originally planned to be released in stores in late-December of 2019 for a limited time.
Description
Happy Dew Year was a flavor of Mountain Dew which is a light or dark orange in color, similar to Sweet Lightning. Its flavor was originally a peach flavor, making it a solid flavor without any other flavor combined to it.
History
Happy Dew Year was first mentioned in the comments section of one of the Reddit posts in March 2019. By judging the name at the time, it could be a promotion or a special drink for Mountain Dew. It was also speculated that the flavor could be a champagne flavor or a peach flavor.
On April 8th, 2019, it was leaked on the Dew Drinker Discord server from a Pepsi employee that Happy Dew Year would be released to stores on December 16th, 2019, alongside with two flavors that would be released for a limited time: VooDEW and Merry Mash-Up. From this, it was confirmed to be a peach flavor.
On August 26th, 2019, it was also leaked on the Dew Drinker Discord that Happy Dew Year would be released only in 20 oz Sidekick bottles.
Sometime in November 2019, it was seen on PepsiCo's PepCoin promotion website that Happy Dew Year would able to participate in the promotion. This was its last glimpse before being canceled.
Cancelation
In early-December 2019, some people became skeptical of Happy Dew Year, not hearing new information from PepsiCo employees, not able to be found anywhere else in PepsiCo warehouses, or in stores early on its release.
On December 12th, 2019, in a Reddit post, it was confirmed from a PepsiCo employee that Happy Dew Year has officially been canceled leading disappointed fans of Mountain Dew to never taste this drink.
Trivia
- Happy DEW Year is one of few flavors of Mountain Dew that was planned, and ended up known to the public, before getting canceled. Others include a 2019 release of Baja Blast Zero Sugar, as well as Kickstart Orange Cranberry from late 2015.
