Game Fuel (Tropical)

Not to be confused with Game Fuel (Tropical Smash) or Game Fuel (Charged Tropical Strike).

Game Fuel Tropical was a Mountain Dew flavor variant. It was debuted during the 2011 Game Fuel Promotion for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Game Fuel (Tropical) was a tropical flavored soda and was green in color.

Its tagline was "DEW with a charge of Tropical Flavor with other natural flavors."

In May 2011, 500 lucky Dew Labs members were sent an unlabeled can containing a new "mystery flavor", numbered 614, as well as an e-mail explaining that they should test the flavor and use websites such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter to give their feedback. The flavor was well-received by most testers, who compared its flavor to that of Baja Blast and Code Red by some, and its color similar to that of Distortion.

In early August 2011, an eBay auction for two upcoming Game Fuel flavors appeared, with pictures showing the original Game Fuel flavor alongside a new, green soda. The flavors were officially revealed on the Mountain Dew Facebook page on August 24, 2011, and began appearing on shelves in October, featuring codes that earned players double experience points in-game. Both Game Fuel flavors remained on shelves until the end of the year, when the Dew XP promotion ended.

  • Game Fuel (Tropical) was the second companion flavor to promote Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 along with Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry), a returning flavor.
  • The flavor was very similar to 2017's Game Fuel (Tropical Smash).
  • This flavor was the first companion flavor that was released with codes under the cap, which has continued for every Game Fuel release in the United States since with the exception of promotion-free Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) in 2014.
