Frost Bite

Frost Bite is a Franchise Exclusive Mountain Dew flavor available since March 2020 only at Walmart stores.

Description[]

Frost Bite, described as "a burst of icy refreshment and cool melon" flavor of Mountain Dew and has a cobalt blue look, having an identical tasting flavor and color to that of 2017's Game Fuel (Arctic Burst).

Tagline[]

Its tagline is "Naturally and Artificially Flavored DEW."

History[]

Frost Bite was first leaked on the Dew Drinker Discord in late 2019. However, the community and moderation team prevented the leak's spread, both to prevent the drink's launch from potentially getting canceled (based on what happened to Happy Dew Year), as well as for the safety of the leaker.

On January 15th, 2020, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, Frost Bite was leaked by a PepsiCo employee named "mtndewinsider," showing an advertisement of a 16.9-ounce bottle of Frost Bite to which he later received as a 20-ounce test sample bottle. Also, the employee also gave a statement about the release, stating that it would get released in Walmart stores and mentioning a release date of April 2020.

It was officially released to Walmart stores in the United States on March 23rd, 2020 as a permanent flavor, and was sold in 12-packs, 24-pack cubes, 16.9-ounce bottle multipacks, and 20-ounce Sidekick bottles.

Variants[]

Frost Bite Zero Sugar[]

In January 2021, a SmartLabel listing for a 20-ounce bottle of Frost Bite Zero Sugar was leaked. A few days after the leak, it was confirmed by a Pepsi employee on the Dew Drinker Discord that it was planned to be released sometime around April 2021, and would be available in 12-packs and 20-ounce bottles. A week later, another leak from a Mountain Dew fan group on Facebook revealed that Frost Bite Zero Sugar was officially set to release on March 22nd, 2021.

In mid-2023, the availability was speculated/believed by many people about Frost Bite Zero Sugar was allegedly to be discontinued due to it not being in stock in most store locations. After assumption, it was confirmed in October 2023. It was because it had been discontinued and not produced for the past year.

Trivia[]

  • This flavor was leaked long before its release on the Dew Drinker Discord.
  • This is the third Mountain Dew flavor exclusively released at a retail store, the first being Typhoon's 2011 Back by Popular DEWmand re-release (another Walmart exclusive) and the second being the Dollar General exclusive Maui Burst.
  • Frost Bite was initially planned to be released for a limited time from March to June 2020. It was later changed to be an exclusive flavor thru the end 2020 only at Walmart stores in the United States. Employees stated that its status past 2020 would depend on its success at Walmart.
