Diet Crave (originally known as Flavor #722) was a Mountain Dew flavor first featured as one of seven prototype flavors for DEWmocracy 2, delivered to Dew Labs members for taste testing. It later returned as a diet flavor for FanDEWmonium.
Description[]
Mountain Dew Crave was a Green Apple flavored Mountain Dew, and was light green in color, more so than regular Mountain Dew.
Tagline[]
Its planned tagline was "Green Apple Diet DEW with natural and artificial flavors."
History[]
(2009) Taste testing release[]
- Main article: DEWmocracy 2
This flavor, along with flavors #231, #286, #493, #509, #648, and #736, was shipped to Dew Labs members who were chosen based on their video submissions to the now defunct video website 12seconds.tv and were shipped boxes of the seven prototype flavors. From the initial seven flavors, taste testers were questioned to elect three final flavors for later release at retail stores. #722 was eventually lost and not released to stores.
(2010 - 2011) FanDEWmonium[]
- Main article: FanDEWmonium
Crave, a flavor speculated to most likely be Flavor #722, returned to be featured in the FanDEWmonium promotion, where it would have a chance to become a permanent diet flavor (all eight FanDEWmonium flavors except Diet Flare and Diet Ultra Violet were former DEWmocracy flavors). Crave was available for taste testing at stops of American tours as well as to winners of online contests, and eventually finished in 7th place, not making it to the final round.
Trivia[]
- Crave was the first green apple flavor of Mountain Dew, the second being Electric Apple, the third partly being Green Label, the fourth being Thrashed Apple, and the fifth being partly Apple Cinnamon.
