Dark Berry Bash is a Franchise Exclusive Mountain Dew flavor available since August 2021 only at Applebee's restaurants.

Description

Dark Berry Bash is a Dark Berry (Blue Raspberry and Blackberry) flavor of Mountain Dew. It is dark blue in color, with a flavor profile comparable to Dark Berry and Black Label.

Its tagline is "DEW Charged with Artificial Berry Flavor."

History

On July 7th, 2020, PepsiCo filed a trademark name for Dark Berry Bash titled "MTN DEW DARK BERRY BASH."

On April 9th, 2021, it was discovered that Dark Berry Bash has a fountain drink concentrate 3 gallon listing on the Contact PepsiCo website, meaning it is a fountain flavor. However, there are no details about the exclusive franchise at that time.

On June 25th, 2021, it was also discovered that Dark Berry Bash had a listing on the PepsiCo Nutrition Facts website, added on the website two days before it was uncovered.

On June 28th, 2021, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, a user shared an image of a black-and-white document detailing the design of Dark Berry Bash's glass cup, confirming that it is an exclusive flavor at Applebee's. The flavor is a mix of blue raspberry and blackberry. The user mentioned they were "picking up an order" and clarified that the paper document was taped to the service desk.

On August 15th, 2021, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, a user posted an image of Dark Berry Bash on a bar, in a glass cup, where the flavor is confirmed to be a dark blue. This was the first confirmed sighting, with further sightings appearing afterward.

On September 13th, 2021, PepsiCo announced in a press release that Applebee's and PepsiCo announced a new fountain flavor available exclusively at select Applebee's locations and will be available at other Applebee's locations throughout Fall 2021. In the press release, they discussed that it will be designed to taste best for their food, especially Applebee’s burgers.

Dark Berry Bash is available throughout most Applebee's locations, replacing Berry Burst in early 2022. Since then, it has remained a permanent flavor and later received a redesign in 2025.

Dirty Dark Berry Bash

On March 31st, 2025, Applebee's announced new dirty variants for their fountain sodas, including Dark Berry Bash. For $1 extra, guests could "dirty up" their soda of choice with vanilla creamer, whipped cream, and a cherry. The announcement also displayed the "dirty" glass design art for Dark Berry Bash, Original Mountain Dew, and Original Pepsi.

Passion Blue Dew

On August 18th, 2025, Applebee's released a variant of Dark Berry Bash called "Passion Blue Dew" alongside variants of Pepsi and the original Mountain Dew called "Cherry Charmed Pepsi" and "Mango Dream Dew" respectively. It is Dark Berry Bash infused with passion fruit syrup and vanilla creamer, topped with whipped cream and a cherry.

Trivia

• Dark Berry Bash and Vibe are on PepsiCo's Contact Us page when searching for a specific product. Both flavors present themselves as fountain mixes. It is unknown if Vibe and Dark Berry Bash are associated with one another beyond these similarities.
• This flavor is one of four Applebee's-exclusive Mountain Dew flavors.
  • The others were 2015's Mountain Dew Orange (A.M.), 2015's Triple Berry, and 2017's Berry Burst.
  • Dark Berry Bash is also the first Applebee's-exclusive Mountain Dew flavor that is not a generic flavor with syrup added.
• Dark Berry Bash is one of the several restaurant exclusives designed to taste best with their food. Others include (but may not be limited to) Taco Bell's Baja Blast and Baja Midnight with Mexican-inspired food, Which Wich's Vibe with sandwiches, KFC's Sweet Lightning with Southern-inspired food, Little Caesars's Mango Rush with Pizza, Bojangles's Southern Shock with Fried Chicken and Buttermilk Biscuits, and Buffalo Wild Wings's Legend with Burgers and other Bar food and Sauces.
• Dark Berry Bash is one of three flavors that received a creamy Dirty variant. The others were Baja Blast and Sweet Lightning.
  • Papa Johns also received a dirty variant named 'Cini Dirty Soda of the Original Mountain Dew flavor. However, it differed than the typical creamy dirty variants as it did not include cream but instead pepperoncini pepper brine.
• You can also find Dark Berry Bash at the two combination IHOP and Applebee's restaurants, a relatively new concept by Dine Brands Global Inc., which owns both chains. One is in Detroit, MI, and the other is in Seguin, TX.
