Code Red is an international Mountain Dew flavor sold in the Oceanian countries of New Zealand and Australia. It differs from the version sold in other countries as it utilizes a completely different flavor profile, being a berry flavored drink rather than a cherry flavored one.
Description[]
As previously mentioned, this version of Code Red is a Berry flavored Mountain Dew. Like the other version of Code Red, it is (as its name implies) red in color.
History[]
New Zealand[]
This version of Code Red was released in New Zealand in 2010 for a limited time[1]. After its limited-time release, Mountain Dew New Zealand decided to make it permanent in 2011.[2]
Australia[]
- Main article: Unleash Your X
In 2014, Code Red was released for a limited time in Australia under the Mountain Dew Energised name as part of an X-Men: Days of Future Past promotion. Similar to the New Zealand variant, the flavor used in New Zealand is Berry instead of Cherry. It was available from April until September of that year.
Trivia[]
- Code Red (Berry)'s release marks the first time a Mountain Dew flavor was released with a different flavor profile than that used in other countries.
- It would be followed by Supernova's Finnish release (an orange colored, Raspberry-Lemon drink rather than a magenta colored, Strawberry-Melon one) in 2012, and LiveWire in Malaysia being renamed to Voltage (making it an orange colored, Orange flavored drink rather than a blue colored, Raspberry Citrus one) in 2017.
