Cake-Smash was a Mountain Dew flavor first given to lucky winners in sweepstakes tweeting the funniest 2020 fails in June 2021. In July 2021, it was announced that Cake-Smash was getting sold exclusively on the online DEW Store. The flavor was discontinued shortly after, as it was sold out.
Description[]
Cake-Smash was a Cake flavor of Mountain Dew and was white in color. It was meant to celebrate 2021, with its celebratory description reading: "Let's do-over your missed milestone—whether it was a birthday, a wedding, a graduation, or life itself! This year you deserve to have your cake and drink it too with Mtn Dew Cake-Smash!".

History[]
On June 19th, 2019, PepsiCo filed a trademark for Cake-Smash titled "MTN DEW 80 CAKE-SMASH." There were plans for Cake-Smash to get released in 20-ounce bottles in 2020. As the flavor's name suggested, this release would have been to promote Mountain Dew's 80th anniversary (the product having been introduced in 1940). However, likely due to the pandemic, this never came to fruition.
2021 Sweepstakes giveaway[]
On June 25th, 2021, the official Mountain Dew Twitter account announced a giveaway of Cake-Smash cans, tweeting "Do-over your comically pitiful 2020 celebrations w/ MTN DEW CAKE-SMASH! Follow us and tweet your funniest 2020 party-fail story w/ #DewDoOver & #Sweepstakes for a chance to win 2 cans of CAKE-SMASH or $1K!".
After the sweepstakes giveaway, winners were notified, and the 2,000 cans started shipping out sometime between late June to early July 2021 to 1,000 lucky winners.
2021 DEW Store release[]
On March 31st, 2021, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, a PepsiCo employee named u/swagemp had initially claimed that it would be online only (exclusive to the online DEW Store) and that it would release sometime during the summer, which was later revealed to be July 2021.
On July 20th, 2021, the official Mountain Dew Twitter account announced that Cake-Smash would be sold exclusively to the Dew Store, Mountain Dew's online shop. It became available for sale on the morning of its announcement before selling out entirely within a few hours of its release. It was sold in 6-packs of 16 oz. cans for $12 each, and the first 250 orders came with a "Party Pack," including balloons, party cups, and a pin.
On August 17th, 2021, it was restocked, exclusively announced to Dew Nation HQ members, before selling out once again a few hours later. Since then, it has been discontinued.
