Baja Midnight

Baja Midnight is a Franchise Exclusive Mountain Dew flavor slated to release during the Summer of 2025, only at Taco Bell restaurants.

Description[]

Baja Midnight is a Passionfruit flavor of Mountain Dew. It is dark purple in color, with a flavor profile comparable with its Baja Family of Flavors.

Tagline[]

Its tagline is "Passionfruit Naturally and Artificially Flavored."

History[]

On March 4th, 2024[1], during the Live Más LIVE event, Taco Bell announced a new flavor called "Baja Midnight." The spokesperson described its flavor as a "burst of passionfruit." Just as Baja Blast is designed to complement their Mexican-inspired dishes, Baja Midnight is also crafted to pair well with their food[2]. This new flavor is set to be released in August of 2025, replacing another dark purple Taco Bell exclusive drink, Brisk Dragon Paradise.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Baja Midnight is one of the few restaurant exclusives designed to taste best for their food. Others include Taco Bell's Baja Blast with Mexican-inspired food, KFC's Sweet Lightning with Southern-inspired food, Applebee's Dark Berry Bash, and Which Wich's Vibe with sandwiches.
  • During the Live Más LIVE event, attendees could get free Taco Bell food, including a display can of Baja Midnight labeled "NOT FOR RETAIL SALE,"[4] found in a taco ice sculpture. (These cans did not actually contain Mountain Dew Midnight however and attendees were not allowed to take them.)[5]
  • When Baja Midnight was unveiled at the Live Más LIVE event, many people speculated that it could be Baja Passionfruit Punch as they share the same passionfruit flavor profile. An anonymous source revealed[6] that Baja Midnight's test can code is identical to the code used for Baja Passionfruit Punch. Since PepsiCo has never used the same test can code to different flavors, it strongly suggests that Baja Midnight is a rebranded/renamed version of Baja Passionfruit Punch.
  • Baja Blast and Baja Midnight are the only two flavors in the 2025 brand redesign that retain their custom-made logos, while other flavor redesigns use a "PODIUM Sharp 3.11" font, opting to remove mascots: Maui Burst's Pineapple mascots, Purple Thunder's Plum Lucky, Barry Biker mascot, and all other flavors that featured them. These flavors instead opt for the flavors ingrained in the text.
