Atomic Blue

Atomic Blue was a Franchise Exclusive Mountain Dew flavor available from May 2020 until January 2024 only at Sheetz gas stations.

Description[]

Atomic Blue was an Electric Lemonade flavor of Mountain Dew and, as its name suggests, had a blue look, partly having a comparable tasting flavor to that of Game Fuel (Lemonade) and Vibe.

Half-diet formulation[]

Main article: Flavor 514C

Similarity to other Mountain Dew fountain varieties such as Berry Monsoon, Atomic Blue utilized a "Half-Diet" formula, where the amount of High Fructose Corn Syrup is reduced in favor of the artificial sweeteners Sucralose and Acesulfame Potassium in order to reduce calories.

Tagline[]

Its tagline was "DEW with Electrifying Lemonade Flavor."

History[]

On February 21st, 2020, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, Atomic Blue was first leaked by a user named u/Flashpath showing an image of Atomic Blue in its glass cup design from the official PepsiCo Beverage Facts website as a soda fountain exclusive, with the image showing its flavor as Electrifying Lemonade. From this leak, there was no information at the time as to where would it be exclusive to.

In May 2020, it was officially released in Kum & Go gas stations locations in the United States in soda fountains as a permanent flavor. It was also released at Sheetz convenience stores not long afterward.

In July 2020, PepsiCo Canada filed a trademark for Atomic Blue, which was registered in May of 2022. However, PepsiCo Canada has not done nothing with the flavor.

In 2021, Kum & Go began to replace Atomic Blue with Major Melon at most locations, similar to how Speedway replaced Cyclone with Major Melon in March 2022.

January 2024 discontinuation[]

On January 12th, 2024, it was leaked by Team Supernova that Atomic Blue was discontinued alongside Pitch Black as confirmed by a Twitter message from Sheetz's social networking team.

Trivia[]

  • By coincidence, Purple Thunder, Berry Monsoon and Atomic Blue were all released on May 2nd and all three flavors are exclusive to a certain franchise.
